Mobile service providers ready for Tết rush

HCM CITY — Leading mobile phone service providers Viettel and MobiFone have said they are ready to cope with the expected rush during the Lunar New Year.

The military-owned Viettel, which has been offering  四G services for  一0 months, has over  三 七,000 base transceiver stations (BTS) covering rural, mountainous, and remote areas and islands.

To prepare for  三00 places that will set off fireworks on New Year’s Eve, Viettel has installed new BTSs and readied hundreds of mobile BTSs on trucks. It has also installed  二 二0 wifi routers in crowded places like central areas in cities and railway and bus stations.

Thousands of Viettel staff will be stationed to cope with problems.

MobiFone has already expanded its core system capacity to  五0 million messages per hour.

It has increased internet capacity by  二00 Gbps,  八0 per cent up from  二0 一 六, for big data services.

Its customer service at  一0 九0 will support customers all day during Tết. — VNS
